Bal du moulin de la Galette (commonly known as Dance at Le moulin de la Galette) is an 1876 painting by French artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir. It is housed at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris and is one of Impressionism's most celebrated masterpieces. The Moulin de la Galette is the windmill and associated businesses situated near the top of the district of Montmartre in Paris.
Liberty calls it Le moulin de la Galette. It is one of their extra large puzzles at 21.75" x 15.75" and 754 pieces. Being an impressionist painting, there are no fine details. One of Renoir's later paintings, Le déjeuner des canotiers (commonly known as Luncheon of the Boating Party) has quite a bit more detail. It is my favorite impressionist painting. I will post it, but I need a rest from Renoir.
The individual pieces look as if they were painted with a sponge in a kindergarten class. Only when together do you "get the picture", and not from up close. It took 40 to 50 hours! I sold it on eBay amost immediately after finishing it. This is not something I routinely do, only for a jigsaw I am sure I will not solve again.
